Nakakatawa at nakaka-aliw itong basahin.

2008 March 20

Springtime is here, the lanterns are up at the park for o-hanami (sakura-viewing at night or viewing and binge drinking that starts at high noon), and surprisingly, I've only had a few severe bouts with hay fever, so far.

I walk through a park to get to the subway everyday and the sakura buds are quite fat and ready to burst. Imagine popcorn on tree branches, although they're the most delicate color of whitish-pink you'd ever seen. The official (yes, this is a serious matter here) forecast for sakura to bloom in Tokyo is March 23!

Malamig pa rin sa gabi, and it's so tempting to go for a bowl of hot and steaming ramen and a chilled mug of beer. When in Tokyo, slurp as they do; and slurp I did. Japanese know how to serve and drink beer - in a chilled mug and chilled beer - no ice (of course!). This reminds me of a joke about "salariman" (typical male office worker) --- How do you describe a "salariman"? Oh, he's hard working, always putting in a lot of overtime, and goes home really late to a warm beer and a cold family. Kanpai!

Kung may A-B gang dito...

Kung may "akyat-bahay gang" dito, this news about 2 sisters stashing away US$56.4 million in cash to evade taxes would be a dream! Heto ang istorya.

nasa high....

tsk, tsk... this is a term I used to hear from my mom and her sisters. They were (or still are?) worried about my cousins and my susbstance abuse and were always on the lookout for those "tell-all "signs. hehehehe, just go check out strangeface's "darker days", to get an idea of what I am talking about.

I am really walking on fluffy springtime clouds as I blog. Reason is that a project I am involved in with the BBC has just won an award! ((((applause)))) . Dreams do come true, thanks to my dear friend Nuala who got me creating the characters for her Flatmates project!

Opo, nasa HIGH po ako... nanalo kami! ELT08 Innovation awards!

YEHEYYYY!

A night with Stars and BSS

Stars opening for BSS!

Broken Social Scene with Amy Millan (Stars) wala si Feist. There was an eerie silence after one set, then some guy from the crowd called "Ke--veeen" -- yun bang parang tawag bakla.... funny... siguro Pinoy yun. The venue was pretty small so I could've gone up front if I wanted to.
I went home with KC Accidental still playing in my head, and got up the next day to 7/4 (shoreline) and Cause = Time. Sulit na sulit!

wot da ..., high speed internet satellite!

We usually get these annoying telesales phonecalls in the weekend asking us to switch from ADSL to the speedier fiber-optic internet transmission. Tapos heto na, Japan has sucessfully launched its high-speed internet satellite. Hmmm, that means there will be a huge wave of new hardware and software for this kind of transmission.

I am sticking to ADSL, and would not be bothered to upgrade to fiber-optic, but satellite transmission sounds soooo interesting. According to yahoo news, "The agency said it hoped to enable data transmission of up to 1.2 gigabytes per second at a low cost across Japan and in 19 different places in Southeast Asia."

Ika nga ng isang poster, that was revised a bit from the original,
"The revolution will not be televised.... it will be DOWNLOADED."
