Isang taon na mula sa araw na ito ang nakalipas ng pumanaw ang aking nanay. Nakaka-miss talaga, she was one of my closest confidantes and her sense of humor was really great.

Sugar Baby Love

I enjoyed watching "Breakfast On Pluto", directed by Neil Jordan who also did "The Crying Game". Great soundtrack too, but when I checked out the album it seems that most of the good songs were left out. Anyways, this is an old film (2005) but nevertheless a good one.

I saw her pass by my office window one morning, this was a couple of years ago. Her image still lingers, I just had to draw her. I have not seen her since then.

QR code

Last year, there was this TV commercial where a girl tried "reading" a guy's sideburn using her cellphone, and the reading showed a picture of the guy's father.
Ehh? Ano kaya ibig sabihin nun?
Well, the phone supposedly read a "QR code" pattern on the sideburn to get "genetic info" from the guy. This was an ad for hair restoration I think, because the father turned out to be bald!

Here, QR codes are everywhere! You can download info in a snap using your cellphone, itatapat mo lang ito sa QR code, like the one pictured above, click! and PRESTO! nandun na sa cellphone mo yung info! You can even make your own QR code and reproduce it on your t-shirt, tattoo....

Hmmm, magpatattoo kaya ako sa pwet nito in case na magka-amnesia ako... paki basa na lang ng kanang pisngi please!

New Things

There's this featured news on Yahoo today about a 5000 yr old couple of skeletons found hugging each other. I went to see more pics and found a much more interesting picture-show of new underwater species, THOUSANDS of them found in our waters! There was this news last year about our seas being "ground zero" when it comes to bio-diversity. It used to be Indonesia but these European and Philippine scientists have new evidence to support their claim. MABUHAY!

I still have to overcome my fear of open water whenever I go snorkeling. So far, if I am wearing a snug life vest I feel more comfortable. I just hate the current!

Kagabi, napanood ko sa news, some gang-member was shot to death while in his car somewhere in a swanky town in Tokyo. This is the article at INQ7.

I wonder how many people were killed in gun crime sa Maynila in 2006? Hindi ko na tatanungin yung overall stats dahil patuloy na naghahabulang aso't-pusa ang mga militar, private army, crooks at insurgents sa ating bansa. Isali na rin natin yung mga naghahari-hari-an diyan na may mga baril at trigger-happy pa.

Dito, napansin ko sa isang pagkakataon, may pumutok yatang gulong ng kotse sa daan, so unang impulse ko...YUMUKO! Pero karamihan ng nasa paligid ko, nakatayo, palingon-lingon at sabay na nagtatanong..."ano yun?", "saan yun (ingay) nanggaling?" Nagmistulang weirdo ako, anuvahyan!

Napansin ko nga nung huli kong bisita sa Maynila na naglipana nanaman ang mga nag lalakihang mga billboards. Kahit na mayroong mga iba na na-decommissioned na o kaya makikita mo pa rin yung damage ni Milenyo eh napakarami talaga ng mga nakatayong billboards sa paligid-ligid! Ewan ko pero para sa akin mas maganda sana kung walang mga billboards na nakatayo, ang gulo-gulo kasi eh! Kung may creative alternative sana na pwedeng gamitin in place of these boards, sana naman ay may magsimula nang mag-pauso nito!

May mga billboards rin dito sa Tokyo at ang advertising dito... MALOLOKA kayo! Kahit ang sariwang ITLOG ng manok dito may advertising na!

Fire and Rain

Friday night, lamiig... 5C! After hearty hotpot of miso nabe and good sake with my bebe, here I am listening to James Taylor's Fire and Rain. After several loops, which had me already singing with my own lyrics, hehehe... naisipan ko nang hanapin ang totoong lyrics ni JT. I found out this myth about the song.

Maraming fans ni JT ang naniniwala na ang FIre and Rain ay tungkol sa GF nya na namatay sa isang plane crash. Hindi pala totoo yun, ayon sa isang article sa Snopes.com.

Isa lang ang masasabi ko, yung Fire and Rain para sa akin eh, it brings back memories of my inuman blues with several inuman buddies. Yung tipong lashingg na lashingg na kayo pare, tapos tang na pare, talga... whooo I've seen fire and rain... tapos tuloy ang inuman at ang blues o kaya naman sa ibang pagkakataon, senti background for those nookies, ek-ek. (halata na edad ko, bokya!)
